Terms of Service
These terms govern the My Supply Shelf app and the mysupplyshelf.com website. The app is a private inventory of the emergency supplies in your home, and a calculator that turns that inventory into a number of days. It reports what national preparedness authorities have published; it does not write advice of its own, and it is not a substitute for instructions from your authorities during an actual emergency. By using the app or the site, you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
My Supply Shelf is a product of Nisshagen Advisory AB (Org.nr 559526-6742), a company registered in Stockholm, Sweden. “We”, “us” and “our” refer to Nisshagen Advisory AB. Questions about these terms: hello@mysupplyshelf.com.
2. What the service is
My Supply Shelf records the supplies your household keeps, tracks their expiry dates in batches so you can rotate them, works out how many days those supplies would last the people in your home, and compares what you hold against the preparedness list published by your country’s authorities. Seven countries are built in.
At the time of writing the app is in testing and has not been released publicly. Nothing on this site is an offer, a commitment to release anything, or a guarantee of any feature, date or price. Descriptions of intended functionality may change or be abandoned.
3. What the numbers mean, and what they do not
The day count is arithmetic over two things: the items you entered, and the nutritional values attached to them. Litres of water divided by three litres per person per day, kilocalories divided by 2200 per person per day, and the lower of the two reported as the headline. If you entered the wrong quantity, or a product record carries the wrong weight, the number is wrong in the same direction. Where the app cannot count an item, it says so rather than guessing at a value.
Expiry dates come in three kinds and the app keeps them apart, because they are not the same thing. A use-by date is a safety cut-off set by the manufacturer. A best-before date is a quality window. An estimate is neither: it is our arithmetic, it is labelled as an estimate wherever it appears, and it is not a safety judgement. Do not treat an estimate as a manufacturer’s date.
Reminders are scheduled on your own device by the operating system. A reminder can fail to arrive for reasons outside our control, including a phone that was switched off, a permission you revoked, or an operating system that dropped it. Do not rely on a reminder as the only thing standing between you and an expired item.
Nothing in the app is medical, nutritional, legal or emergency advice. The guidance figures it reports are restatements of public documents, and the authority and document behind each profile are named in the app. In an actual emergency, follow your authorities, not an inventory app.
4. Your account and your content
The app creates an anonymous account on first launch so you can use it without signing up. You may later add an email address and a password, or sign in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything done through your account.
The items, quantities, dates, locations and household numbers you enter are yours. We claim no ownership of them. We store and process them only to provide the service, as set out in the Privacy Policy. We do not publish them, and they are not visible to other users.
The sign-in account is shared across the “my X shelf” apps, so one login works for all of them. Your supply data is not shared with those apps; only the account is common.
You may delete your account at any time from inside the app: open the Profile tab, tap Delete account and confirm. If you no longer have the app, write to hello@mysupplyshelf.com instead. Deletion is permanent and removes your household record, your items and your batches. The account deletion page has the details.
The app is intended for the adult who manages a household’s supplies. It is not directed at children.
5. The catalogue and where it comes from
The app carries reference data from two kinds of source, and both are attributed in the app.
- Product data for scanned barcodes comes from Open Food Facts, contributed by volunteers and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). The app names the source alongside the details it fills in for you. Open Food Facts data is held apart from our own catalogue, as the licence requires.
- National preparedness guidance is a facts-only restatement of published material from the relevant authority in each country: Myndigheten för civilt försvar in Sweden, Direktoratet for samfunnssikkerhet og beredskap in Norway, SPEK in Finland, Styrelsen for Samfundssikkerhed in Denmark, Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz und Katastrophenhilfe in Germany, FEMA in the United States, and the Cabinet Office in Japan. Item names, quantities and durations are facts. We do not reproduce source prose, tables or artwork, and every profile carries the authority, the document title and a link to it.
Reference data is provided as-is and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Volunteer-contributed product records in particular can carry a missing or incorrect weight or kilocalorie value. Check anything that matters against the packaging in your hand.
My Supply Shelf is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Open Food Facts, to any of the authorities named above, or to any retailer or brand that appears in the app. Names and trade marks belong to their owners and are used for identification only.
6. Retailer links, and the absence of commerce
The shopping list can show links to retailers that stock an item. Tapping one opens the retailer’s own site in your browser. We are paid nothing when you follow one, there is no affiliate arrangement behind any link in the app today, and nothing in the app or on this site is for sale by us. We are not a party to anything you buy: your purchase is a contract between you and that retailer, on their terms.
If a commission arrangement is ever added, the link will be labelled as advertising in the app, as Swedish marketing law requires, and the Privacy Policy will describe the arrangement before the first paid link ships.
7. Price
The app has a free plan and a paid one, called Pro. The free plan covers adding items by hand or by search without limit, the whole shelf, the coverage figures and the shopping list, and a set number of barcode scans. Pro removes the scan limit and turns on expiry and rotation reminders. One subscription covers every “my X shelf” app.
What Pro costs and what it includes is shown in the app before you can buy anything. Payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us, and the subscription renews until you cancel it. You cancel in your own App Store or Google Play account settings, not here, and cancelling stops the next renewal rather than refunding the period you are in. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy. If we move a feature that is free today behind Pro, we will say so before it happens.
8. What you may not do
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, its hosting, its database or another user’s account
- Use automated tools to scrape, bulk-extract, overload or probe the service or its reference data
- Route automated or bulk barcode lookups through the app, which would put our access to Open Food Facts at risk for everyone using it
- Resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the reference data or any other part of the service
- Copy or reproduce the design, code, text or branding without written permission
9. Intellectual property
My Supply Shelf, including the app, this site, and their design, code, copy and branding, is owned by Nisshagen Advisory AB. You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from it without written permission. This does not affect your ownership of the content you enter, and it does not extend to third-party data used under its own licence, which stays under that licence.
10. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. Where it is practical, we will give reasonable notice of a change that materially reduces what the service does. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and the barcode lookup in particular depends on a third-party service that can be slow, rate-limited or unavailable.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information in it, including product data, guidance figures, day counts and estimated dates, is accurate, complete or current. Any statement about a future feature is a statement of present intention only.
Keep your own record of anything you would be upset to lose. We take reasonable care with your data, and we do not guarantee against data loss.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Swedish law, Nisshagen Advisory AB is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, from any reliance on a day count, a coverage figure, a product record or an expiry reminder, or from any statement about an unreleased feature. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing in them affects the mandatory rights of a consumer under Swedish law.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will publish the updated version here and update the version number and effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law, and disputes will be resolved in Swedish courts. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country.
